Tell us what you were riding
Was it a personal electric scooter, a rented stand-up scooter, a seated moped or another motorized vehicle? Provide the make and model if possible. A brand name alone may not establish the vehicle’s legal classification. Tell us whether you were the rider, a passenger if applicable, or a pedestrian struck by the vehicle. If you use a mobility scooter, the pedestrian and mobility-device page is the better starting point.
A fall and a vehicle collision need different histories
Did a wheel catch an uneven surface, did you brake suddenly, or did another vehicle strike you? Did you land on a hand or knee, twist while falling, or strike your head? Include each part of the event when speaking with a medical professional. The event helps guide the assessment; it does not establish the diagnosis of a sprain, disc injury or pinched nerve.
What can be evaluated in our office
After urgent injuries have been assessed, Dr. Cordima can review persistent neck, back or other musculoskeletal concerns and determine whether this office is appropriate. Bring hospital paperwork, imaging reports and current restrictions. A fracture, significant wound or suspected head injury may need another clinician’s care. We do not begin with an assumption that every scooter-related complaint is a chiropractic problem.
Coverage depends on more than the word scooter
Ask the insurer to review the specific vehicle, where and how the accident happened, and whether a motor vehicle or paid trip was involved. Do not assume passenger-car PIP applies to every scooter or moped accident. Rental terms, health coverage and other policies may raise separate questions. Our office can explain its billing requirements and estimated costs; it cannot decide disputed coverage.
Rental records and personal-vehicle details
If you used a rental, keep the rental receipt, trip time, incident reference and any response from the operator. For a personal vehicle, keep the make, model and available registration or insurance documents. You can bring photos to help explain the event, but photographs are not a substitute for an examination. We are independent of rental operators and do not speak for their insurers.
